Week 6 - Final Poster and Rationale

This poster uses clean type over a scanned pastiche New Zealand voting paper
so that the viewer may make the connection to voting within New Zealand.
Substitution/addition has been employed by shredding the ballot paper to
present it in an unfamiliar way and introduce the second idea of rubbish and
ineffectiveness. The viewer will focus on the colour in the image first before
following the strong downward movement of the composition to arrive at the
tagline. The desired ihi wehi reaction is for the viewer to make the connection
between the ballot and its potential for power and change but also realize what’s
really happening and question the effectiveness of our current government systems.

Week 6 - final critique and subtle changes

Design Processes:  Critique, Making

Critique again, identifying small issues like the kerning and leading of the type.
after adressing these issues i headed out to print it at the big picture.

Week 6 - Critiques and minor changes

Design Processes:  Critique, Making

Overall my poster is working well, the tagline is not quite there yet, but the
composition is working well and the type is in a good location on the page.

After some critique ive decided to work on the tagline a little more and
make it link in with the heading of the ballot itself, and fix some slight
composition issues at the top of the page. Adding spot colour to the
heading and tag line might be a good way to link the two together and make
them pop out from the ballot more to get my message accross

Week 5 - Pushing It Further

Design Processes:  Critique

I had a meeting with Matt outside of class to get some
feedback on my new concpets and ideas.

Matt liked the new concpets, he said to make to ballot more
relevent, perhaps making an actual ballot or a pastiche of one,
and also work on the basic composition and make sure the tag
line works with what im trying to say.

Week 5 - struggle and New Ideas

Design Processes:  Critique, Ideate, Making,

After some peer and tutor critique it was clear that i was struggling
to resolve my collage style, the composition was awkward
and the style was not engaging.

I explored some new options, producing thumbnails and mock ups
of my new ideas and im feeling pretty good that they are a step foward.

Week 4 - Changing ideas

Design Processes:  Critique, Ideate, Making,

My Alien mock-up was peer critiqued in class and after it was
clear that people weren't understanding what was going on in the
poster, i decided that maybe it wasn't the best idea, and after some
tutor feedback i decided to develop my shredder idea from week 2.

I decided to Explore a collage style to render my poster in to work in
with the rubbish and recycling themes of the poster. i gathered artist models
and produced thumbnails and mock-ups.

Week 4 - Interim and selection

Design Processes:  Critique, Making,

My 4 concepts were subject to peer critique and identified
the strongest concept to move forward with.
Ive gathered artist models for stylistic approaches and rendered
my Alien poster as a mock up to bring to class tomorrow.

Week 3 - Development and Mock ups

Design Processes:  Ideate, Making,

After class i have been developing my best 4 concepts. i have drawn
lots of  thumbnails to explore all possibilities and have produced
Mock ups ready for critique on monday week 4.

Week 3 - Critique and Idea generation

Design Processes:  Ideate, making, Critique

My mock ups were critiqued by fellow classmates, identifying which
ideas were working and some which needed further work. We did the
random input idea generation method in class and used this method to
brainstorm ideas at home and produced more thumbnails. i made 3
Mock-ups ready for class tuesday.

The 3 ideas i made overnight were critiqued in class by classmates and
tutors, i identified 4 (5 potentially) strong ideas that i can continue developing
and bring to a better standered for interim next week.

Week 2 - Idea generation and mock ups

Design Processes:  Ideate, making,

Before class on monday i collected a few examples of VCD that use
visual rhetoric.I generated Thumbnail drawings of concepts and made
mock ups ready for critique on monday.
